Since August 7th Roger Fleury and a group of Natives have been occupying the site of a significant archaeological find; an Algonquin village that once sat on the bank of the Gatineau river for thousands of years. So far thousands of artifacts have been unearthed dating from up to 3000 years ago. The city of Gatineau recently shut down the archaeological dig to to lay a sewer line right through the area of the dig, thus potentially wiping out a significant site of indigenous history. Our government is spending millions to study an old ship that got lost in the arctic, while allowing indigenous sites to get plowed under and erased. fuck that.
